Alpaca (NO, it's not a llama)

What’s an Alpaca?

  • An alpaca is a South American domestic species, resembling a llama (But it is NOT a llama).

  • Alpacas are mainly found in the Andes (think Chile, Argentina, Ecuador, Peru), but can also be found in North America, Australia, and New Zealand.

  • Alpacas are frequently used for their soft fur. In fact, that is the main purpose of alpacas.

  • Alpacas can be used as companions, and be used to lead.

Why did we put it on the mural?

Well, first of all, alpacas are REALLY cute. Alpacas are also kind, gentle animals, that make great companions. Their fur is very popular, especially used as clothing. They can be used to lead, and have been for a long time. They are a symbolic animal of South America.
