EASTER ISLAND

What is Easter Island?
-
Easter Island is located in South America
-
Easter Island is an island filled with about 900 stone figures, and is a triangle
-
It was created by the Rapa Nui people, also known as the Polynesian people.
-
Each statue is made out of stone
-
Each statue is 13 feet tall and weighs 14 tons
-
The Rapa Nui people started to build it in the tenth to 16th centuries
Why did we put it in the mural?
Easter Island was created years and years ago. It’s really important because it shows that people, a long time ago, could build things as amazing as this with little tools. Even to this day we still don’t know how the Rapa Nui people put stones in such a way to create amazing architecture. It is a symbol of peace because when you’re in the presence of the statues, they don’t say anything verbally, but they tell us how people spent time to build them.
